A summary of the citation style used in your field
When I did some research on what type citation styles are used in the engineering field, I found that engineers use the IEEE style the most often. The IEEE stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. This institute was formed in 1963, and later formed a citation style for engineers that is the most widely used citation style today. There are also other styles that can be used in different branches of engineering. For example, if someone was in the civil engineer field, they may use an ASCE style which is the Society of Civil engineers. Other citation styles that may be used are ACS or the APA styles. These two styles deal with the science fields but are commonly used for engineering.
